If you are here I guess you want to know what the hell a shell is and why I've done a site on them. Well here you go...

Look down, see the taskbar sitting at the bottom of the screen? That's part of the Explorer shell which is what Microsorft makes for you to use, along with the desk top. It's a bit gray and boring, don't you think. Sure you can change the colours and your wallpaper, but that's about all.
This bar, along with the Desktop is called a shell. It is the "top level" of windows, if you want. But the good news is Explorer isn't the only shell you can use. And this site is here to show you how to change this.

This is an example of what a geOBar can look like. You can have virtually and colour scheme you want for it. This is my favourite though, at the moment.
The two buttons on the left give you a Start Menu and a task list, next are the Quick Launch buttons and then the system tray, finally the time. So far, so Explorer. But you can get extra bits, called plugins, like CD players and Virtual Desktops. Much better! Plus you can have as many geOBars as you want so you're not forced into on like Explorer.
