THE COURTYARD AND ARMOURY

Kinsgate Cannon On the left hand wall are tombstones from St.George's Churchyard of mariners, a soldier and an ex- Mayor.

Scattered around are items recovered from the sea bed by hovellers. They include anchors, creep hooks, buoys, metal fittings & cannon.

An assortment of cannon are on show including four saluting guns from Kingsgate Castle.

There is a full sized whaler once used by the Royal Marines for sea training, the remains of the motor boat Secret and a small Pulling Punt, an example of light construction which was a feature of Deal boat building.

navy whaler In the Armoury are displays and uniforms concerning the Barracks in Walmer, the Royal Marines and the St George's Day attack on Zeebrugge of 1918.

Arranged in cases is a wide selection of recovered ammunition, remnants of some of the wartime actions, from Napoleon to the present, that have occurred off this coast.
